Tea Plantation Boutique Bungalow

Experience the gorgeous green heart of Sri Lanka

This is an amazing place to experience Sri Lanka's rolling mountains that are covered in luscious bushes of tea.

This place offers an authentic tea bungalow experience in a private 30 acre tea estate between Nuwara
Eliya and Bandarawela. The original planter’s cottage dates back to the 1930’s and has been beautifully renovated
with a unique mix of mid-century furniture and chic modern designer styles. There are 5 delightfully furnished rooms
and suites that are named after places in the English Lake District as this area of the Hill Country of Sri Lanka has a
unique resemblance to the Lakeland landscape of England.

Located among the pretty landscapes of the Eastern Hill Country, a day or two here makes for a beautifully relaxing stay in the middle of an island tour of Sri Lanka.

Fine Dining

The cuisine is a unique mix of authentic Sri Lankan dishes that focus mainly on the traditional ‘rice and curry’ as well
as a choice of planter’s meals that makes generous use of up-country vegetables, soups, bakes and stews that were
immediately familiar to the British planters’ of yesteryear. Guests are offered a choice of traditional Sri Lankan or
English style breakfasts. There are also Sri Lankan ‘rice and curry’ or exciting European fusion cuisines for both lunch
and dinner. Meals are served on the outdoor dining verandah or the Dining Room or private verandahs as per guest’s
preferences.

Facilities

Uniquely each room has a private butler that will look after the requirements of each guest for the duration of their
stay. They will be constantly ‘on call’ throughout the day to attend to any guest requirement with a high level of
personal service. The hotel also features an ‘Appu’ or traditional butler that welcomes guests along with professional
staff and management. There is a designer living room and relaxation lounge with a library for traditional pursuits like board games. An
outdoor pergola on the lawn is the perfect location for an evening drink or cocktails as the sun sets behind beautiful
mountain ranges in the distance.

Activities And Excursions

Guests can learn the art of ‘tea plucking’ by going out in to the tea fields with the leaf pickers each morning. There are
many nature walks around the estate leading to fine views. In the evenings it is possible to enjoy a ‘barbecue under
the stars’ in the middle of tea bushes. Mountain bikes are available for guests to explore the locality.
A wonderful excursion that is possible is an early morning journey on the Dambetenne Road to Lipton’s Seat which has the most magnificent view in the whole of Sri Lanka. This is reputedly the place where Sir Thomas Lipton would gaze out on his horse at his vast empire of tea estates in the Eastern Hill Country. The highly popular Ella village is 30 minutes away and the Horton Plains cloud forests are easily reached within 1 hour. The old British Hill Station of Nuwara Eliya is a mere 30 minutes away from the bungalow.
