Arrive on the paradise island of Sri Lanka.
Chauffeur collection from the airport by your own personal chauffeur and private vehicle. Your English speaking chauffeur knows your whole itinerary and he will personally drive you around in one of our luxury air-conditioned cars for your whole private tour.
You will then be whisked away to your first 5* beach resort hotel just next to the airport where you will stay for the night. There are all the facilities you could dream of here, you can swim in the big infinity pool, sunbathe on the comfy loungers or chill out with a cocktail in the cool shades of the hotels palm tree fronds. There’s a great spa here, perfect for romantic couples’ treatments.
Today you have the option to visit the world famous elephant orphanage in Pinnawala where you can get up close and personal with the gentle giants of the jungle. You can walk amongst them, touch them, have photos taken with them, be there for feeding time and also see them playing and bathing in the tropical palm tree lined river.
You’ll then head to your next stunning luxury eco style hotel in the cultural triangle where you will stay for the next three nights. The location of this hotel is super, as it’s a great base from which to do lots of cultural experiences and some really amazing wildlife excursions too as this area is packed full of great Unesco world heritage sites, from ancient ruins to natural wonders.
This morning you will visit the world famous Unesco World Heritage site Sigiriya rock fortress. Here you will walk through the gardens and climb the stairs of the jungle rock, passing some of the world’s oldest fresco paintings as you head for the top to take in the magnificent views of the surrounding jungle and mountains.
In the afternoon you’ll visit the Dambulla golden cave temples which are a fascinating cultural experience in a gorgeous part of the paradise island. You’ll climb the stairs to the impressive cave monastery that sits high up above the jungle and explore this fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Today there are two more amazing experiences for you.
You will visit one of the most famous ancient city ruins in the cultural triangle which at 1000 years old is one of Sri Lanka’s Unesco World Heritage Sites. It’s the sort of experience where you’ll get to see impressive ancient structures such as temples, tombs, buddhist statues and stupas. You’ll have a great understanding of the island’s heritage after visiting here.
In the afternoon you will then visit a gorgeous National Park where you will go on an elephant wildlife safari in a jeep where you can track wild elephants and other wildlife too such as deer, birdlife, monkeys, and more. You may even get to witness Sri Lanka’s great wild elephant migration known as “The Gathering”, which occurs during certain months every year in this area. This is where massive herds of wild elephants come together from afar to bathe and play in the wild. To see it for yourselves in a safari jeep is an unforgettable once in a lifetime experience.
Today you will be chauffeur driven to Sri Lanka’s very own Shangr-La, the city of Kandy. Here you will stay in another fabulous hotel for one night.
Once ready you can then explore this beautiful city with a visit to the famous cultural site known as the Temple of the Tooth.
Optional: Dependent on your energy levels at the time, you could also be taken to see a Kandy cultural dance show in the early evening.
This morning you will travel from Kandy to the gorgeous green heartland of Sri Lanka known as the Tea Plantation mountains. It is cooler in this part of the island, more like a British summers day and around 10 degrees cooler than the coast. The landscape is luscious, dominated by mountains and rolling hills, covered in emerald tea bushes, dotted with tea pickers and tea factories, pierced by tropical waterfalls and laced with winding rivers. It is also full of interesting towns, villages and big hearted locals, Sri Lanka's hill country truly is paradise.
You can do part of your next journey by train where you will wind through the breathtaking green mountain scenery. This historic colonial-Victorian era railway line is one of the prettiest railway journeys in the world.
In Tea Plantations you will stay for the next three nights in a luxury boutique hotel & spa perched high up on top of a mountain in the middle of a 100 acre tea plantation where you can wake up to panoramic views of the mountains that stretch for miles and miles. The design here is rustic and luxurious, the food is superb, the view from breakfast alone is outstanding either on your balcony or on the restaurant decking, the pool is refreshing, there are even Sri Lankan tea pickers all around the grounds! This little boutique hotel only has a handful of rooms, often sells out early on and is really hard to get in to, so early booking is strongly advised.
The rest of the day you can simply relax and enjoy your spectacular surroundings and views.
Today you can have a Tea Factory tour to see how the famous ceylon tea is processed before being shipped off around the world.
To add a bit of spice to your tour we can arrange for you to have a Sri Lankan cuisine cooking class. You’ll get to interact with a talented and experienced chef who will teach you about the local ingredients and traditional cooking techniques. Inside the kitchen you’ll make your own local curries and then enjoy eating them afterwards!
Or if you want something adventurous and active to do then there’s different hikes to be enjoyed. If you want to then you can trek up stunning mountains that offer utterly breathtaking views of Sri Lanka's hill country.
Alternatively if you have the energy then you could opt to visit a luscious tropical waterfall in this green heartland of Sri Lanka - we know the best ones and will instruct your chauffeur guide to take you.
You can also opt to explore a local town where you could visit some cafes, bars and restaurants. We recommend our favourites to you!
Today you can simply relax.
Today you head south to Yala where the jungle meets the beach.
Here you will be staying at a luxury safari lodge style hotel in the heart of the wild for the next three nights. It's an experience in itself staying here as there’s wildlife actually in and around the hotel. There’s cheeky little monkeys that run around reception and the swimming pool, little tropical birds perched in the trees, families of wild boar that stroll around the paths and under the detached stilted chalet rooms and crocodiles in the lake. Sometimes elephants even roam around the hotel grounds! After dark the evening walks from the restaurant back to your room come with your own escort! Some mornings at breakfast leopards can even be seen in the far distance upon a lookout rock. This place has a rustic yet luxurious feel, has great food, an inviting swimming pool and feels like a complete adventure. Plus it's a very convenient place to get to the Yala National Park from as it's positioned conveniently close to the entrance gates.
Get your camera ready, today you will be going on an amazing National Park wildlife safari in a jeep. You will be driven around by an experienced guide and trek wild leopard. Yala has the highest concentration of leopards found anywhere in the world. It has so much other amazing wildlife too including elephants, peacocks, sloth bear, spotted deer, sambars, wild boars, crocodiles, water buffalo, mongoose and an abundance of cheeky monkeys that are everywhere! Over 200 species of birds have also been recorded here in Yala. It's like a real life Jungle Book. This is a really exciting once in a lifetime experience.
Today you get to relax and unwind.
Or if you want to you could opt at the time to go on another wildlife safari.
Today you will head west to another stunning beach resort near Galle where you will stay for the next three nights. Here you can live it up in luxury and can kick back and relax on sun beds by the pool, overlooking the gorgeous Indian ocean and take in all that you’ve done on your amazing tour around the tropical island’s best bits.
This morning you will visit a sea turtle hatchery where you can experience the wonder of the these majestic and ancient creatures. This is a lovely little experience where you can experience the wonder of the these majestic and ancient creatures. The baby ones are so cute and you can hold them! The conservation efforts of these places are important to the species, and it's nice to see what they do on the cusp of the gorgeous Indian Ocean overlooking the beach. This is a really enjoyable experience, adds a flourish to the trip and is something that everyone tells us they love.
Whilst in this south-western part of Sri Lanka we will take you to explore the old fortress walled city of Galle with it’s colourful narrow streets and colonial look it feels a bit like a glorious old European city that has found itself in the tropics! We love it here as the peninsular sea fort is packed full of heritage with many interesting sites such as the glorious old lighthouse, the 300+ year old ramparts, stonewalls and the granite clock tower. It’s a Unesco world heritage site and here you can explore boutique shops (jewellery, hand made fabrics, antiques and more), little bars, quirky cafes and amazing restaurants. As with the rest of the tour we recommend the best places for you to visit here, choices range from street food to colonial high tea. Everywhere here has immense character and charm that echos Sri Lanka’s Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial periods. As you stroll along the historic walls and look out over the gorgeous Indian Ocean you’ll be glad you came here, but you just might not want to leave.
Today you can kick back and relax.
Time to take your private transfer back to the airport just north of Colombo so that you can take your flight back home.
After all this we hope you would have had the most magical time and enjoyed the natural beauty of Sri Lanka with it’s friendly welcoming people, its array of wildlife, nature and cultural experiences. We hope that you come home with amazing memories of paradise.
